Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Coronavirus (COVID-19)
01/05/2021

 Dear Patients and their families,

Pediatric Place has resumed routine in-person medical care , including well child visits, acute visits, sports clearances, pre-operative visits and general follow up visits per Governor Hogan’s current orders. The CDC highly recommends in-person visits so that time-sensitive vaccine protection is not delayed.

Walk-in Visits remain suspended as required by the Maryland Department of Health, until we are permitted to resume. For your safety, please avoid using urgent care centers during this time.

Same Day visits are no problem : just call our office first to schedule your appointment. Insurance regulations continue to require copays for most visits, regardless of how they are completed.

Temporary Office Hours are Monday-Friday 8am-4pm, and some Saturday mornings. Our phones will open at 7:30 am.

Safety Protocols: for everyone’s safety, we have new protocols, updating them as recommendations change from the CDC, American Academy of Pediatrics and Maryland Department of Health.

Screening: Families will be screened both at the time of the call to make an appointment, and again at sign in (if it is an “in person” visit) about COVID-19 exposure risk.

Face Coverings:  When entering the office, every person age 2 and over must have face covered (babies’ carrier can be draped with a cloth), and will be asked to use hand sanitizer before signing in.

Limit number of visitors: We are asking that as few people as possible (ideally parent only) accompany the child to the visit. Only those who are feeling well should sit in the well waiting room (we are using the waiting rooms very minimally as noted below.)

Minimal waiting room use:  Patients and their families will notify us when they have arrived but remain in their parked cars. Front desk staff will then check the patient in remotely. When the exam room is sanitized and ready, a medical assistant will call the family on their cell, then escort them to a well or sick exam room, in effect bypassing the waiting room.

Well visits: Well children will be taken to a dedicated well exam room located on the well side of the office.

Acute visits:  Any sick patient will be taken to a sick exam room located on the sick side of the office. Please know that any patient’s party who identifies they are COVID-exposed will be brought through our back door and taken directly to a COVID-designated room. That exam room door will remain closed and the room sanitized before use of the next patient. Depending on the child’s complaints, the team caring for him or her may be wearing extensive Personal Protective Equipment for the safety of all. COVID-19 testing can be done at our office when appropriate, on a case-by-case basis.

Thank you, we all look forward to seeing you soon.
